My visit to the Unique Singapore!

A place so neat and in order a plush green island with a few skyscrapers.
Reached Changi airport after a long but short 7 hour flight from Narita at about 6:45 delayed 15 minutes by a technical problem. Well was great to see Arun my closest of friends from college after a few years together. Soon we were in a cab riding to his place. Placed the luggage and started the sight seeing business soon. We were joined by Arun’s room mate Dinakar from Madurai.

We decided to cover the important spots in and around the main city. Well it was steamy humid climate in Singapore and I had to change from my think clothing as I caught the flight from, Narita.
We soon took a bus to the Singapore Suntech city. Just a quick roam around in the mall and I was soon on the city ride Hippo bus for a short Christmas lighting trip for about 25 minutes. And guess what my friends had to stay back as this offer was only for visitors and tourists!
Was a good quick round trip through the Orchard road and the main raffles road? Some of the sights along side were the new Art gallery and Museum the large buildings and the special pink Christmas tree and also the lighting all along the way!
Soon back at the Suntech city I was enjoying the world’s largest fountain for a few minutes and we were on way fro a grand Indian dinner.

Destination – Little India. Believe me it’s all exactly India
A huge Tamil and Indian crowd, restaurants and shops just the way as in India and all the ambience remains the same. We had a delicious meal and Masala Dosa and the fish fingers were the specialties.
Saw the Mustafa the famous place for electronics and home appliances and the market like area around.
We just finished the dinner and were en-route to the Merlion land mark of Singapore Island! The identity symbol of Singapore stood well lit up and spitting gallons of water even at late night! The whole area was getting ready for the special New Year fire work and laser lighting event. In case you are in Singapore for your New Year never miss this!

Soon we realised we were getting too tired and had a chilled Miranda to quench the thirst. One thing I missed that day is the pepper crab fry of Singapore. Every single eat out told us the dish was sold out! L
May be on my next trip as one of my close friend’s had already mentioned before my start! Back to base and a great sleep!

Next morning Sunday!
Raining raining and raining …….. Rain stops at about 9 in the evening – So the whole day was drenchy! But still covered all as per the plan!
Me and Arun started on a trip to the Sentosa island. Well the island of Singapore is quite small and easily accessible bye busses and the MRT. One important thing. Carry enough change for the buses or the drivers get a bit nasty with the money and you get a blunt welcome or may even be asked to get off the bus or forget the change! – So carry exact change.
Soon we took the lift to the fifteenth floor after taking a package 1 ticket for Sentosa – Guess what the agent handed overt the ticket to us off the queue and counter! I could see hey India repeated, But I guess everything was genuine and all the tickets were usable!

We were on the ropeway for about a 15 minute ride really at a tremendous height wow the view is chilling beautiful from top. You may check out the snaps on my Flickr page!
The rope way crosses right across the port and you can see the island and the cruise ships parked all around. It is indeed a wonderful sight.
Another thing for all couples! You can book a candle light dinner on the rope way dinner would be served at the stop over and Romance guaranteed in air with the lit up city down below!
Ne ways I personally do not think it’s a good idea but still okay!

Reached Sentosa island and we were soon on our first ride of the Carlsberg sponsored rotating tower. The tower goes winding up and then gives you a breathtaking view from the top before it starts winding down and all at a nominal pace. It is fascinating indeed. Check out the snaps on my Flickr page and you get your snaps taken with proper background by professionals and mind it it’s a bit costly though!
Soon we were at the Subway for a big bite for the day’s reserve. And was glad to see a group of Japanese teenagers moving around on tour! Had a bit of fun talking with them lolls!

We were back on the feet going out to explore on the rest on the island. Soon we were at the aqua center and in the underwater world were we saw a lot of the sea. Various types and species of God’s beautiful creations. This was followed by the Dolphin show which was really fantastic. Thanks God the rains had just stopped for the show to happen!

We soon found a relaxing time taking long rides on the Sentosa trams. The connections and well planned color line setup at the island make sure the tourists are easily moving around! I would say a bit more of specific stop wise announcements would be much helpful to passengers trying to figure out where they are!

We soon were at the Cinemania 4D simulation center! Was a pretty good experience but would rate low compared to the simulation rides of Tokyo Disney land and Joy polis. Well out of the theatre and the rains were heavy. But still we made it to the orchid garden and then to the Asian delicacy restaurant wow the crab meat and the Grilled fish was fantastic in deed. Would post them soon on the Gastronomy blog page!

We decided to skip the musical fountains as we had a long wait for them and it was raining profusely. We were at the soveniour shops on the island and wonderful Merlion and Jade ornaments to be picked up. Something strange I noticed is that many of the souvenirs had a Japanese cultural touch! I could not figure that out!

Soon back on the rope ride for a longer one to the Mt Faber! Supposed to be a peak point in Singapore. Was a great place to be and we could see many young and old couples boarding the glass cabins for their mid air romantic candlelight dinner! We had an amazing ice cream bite on the mount and moved around this beautiful location.
Soon we had to ride back as we decided to cover one of the largest malls in Asia the Vivacity. Yes it was indeed huge and all items were pretty much of good standards too. We were getting tired and we decided to close the day soon. Back to base and then for a dinner at a 24 hour dhaba near our base! I can never forget this!

Last day of stay in Singapore!
Decided to rest enough for the journey ahead. Also met a wonderful friend of mine and her family in Singapore. Had lunch together and rested for a while before starting to the airport for my trip home!
A short and great experience, most wonderful times spent with friends!

Well this small but beautiful island where almost everything is imported including water and electricity. The country which I would call a city is well maintained and disciplined a definite place to visit for travelers. A maximum of 4 days and you can cover this country in total I guess, what I missed are the Animals in the zoo the butterflies birds and the night safari. Hope I can make a similar stop over some time soon like this,

But I would say its really Unique with a multi cultural society
