Hi all,
It’s been long time since I posted a blog. One of my biggest dreams of traveling to new and different places has started off. Being to new places and getting to know the people and culture of the region has always enthralled me.
As anyone and everyone I have been always waiting to travel out of my own country.
It came after a long wait! An official opportunity. For a change from every one I was offered an opportunity to the east as well as to the west. I had to choose between these two. Was a tough decision but I made sure not to regret on it.
It took me a couple of days though to finalize. I chose the East to the West considering my long time ambition to visit places in the world and meet the people and spend time being with different Human cultures.
I started off to Japan on January 9, 2006. That was the start of not just a new year but a new beginning in my life.
Started with a little bit of trouble as I was carrying quite a lot of luggage. Had a bit of trouble at the baggage counters. However nothing comes free in this world of ours right!
And guess what we delayed the flight by about 10 minutes, There was a scuffle right at the Aircraft door and I had to give away one of my cabin baggage to be checked in.
I took it light and started the 4.5 hour flight to Kualalampur, reached the KLIA early morning and that was my first step outside India. Had a wait time of about 4.5 hours at the airport. Never got to go out of the airport but had a nice time roaming around and seeing things in Kualalampur. Was at first a bit surprised to see many of the employees speaking Tamil.

Soon we made to the gate for the next flight to Narita and had to wait some time before the security check and the clearance was done. This was a huge Boeing 777 and I got a seat away from my friends. But it is necessary to tell that this leg of the flight was amazing and better than the first leg.
Had watched a couple of in-flight movies during the 6 hour coast line flight. What interested me all through the flight was the navigation being screened on one of the channels.
We could see the altitude speed and even the directions of the flight and it was cool as if we were copiloting the aircraft being supported by the satellites, sounds sci-fi?
It was the in-flight lunch that gave me the first flavors of Japan. Even when I had an international meal, I had some real long noodles wound up in a small cup wit 2 kind of sauces and grated see weed. I would have never recognized it as see weed unless the kind missionary lady seated next to me explaind. She has been living in Japan for years and was on a return trip from her official trip in Bangladesh. If I am not wrong the name of the kind lady was Rosaline.
At last as I kept watching the screen the altiitudes was going on decreasing and soon there was the captain's voice speaking in Japanese and then in English. We were about to lands and just looking through the window was an amazing sight of Japan's lit up coast lines.
We adjusted our watches to the Nippon time and soon we had a real smooth touch down. It took quite a few minutes as the flight taxied along the runway. We were at one of the busiest and biggest airports in the world Narita International Airport Terminal # 2.
We could see Japanese engineering even before we came out of the aircraft as we were taxiing above and below cars and trains. Slowly as plane came to a halt and the doors opened and as we made it to the doors, we could feel the first chill of Japan.
Soon to follow..
