The first night in Nippon..
We had lost a lot of time in the Airport itself.Narita airport is claimed to be on among the busiest and Big airports. And ofcourse it is.
Cleared the immigration, and that was the first face to face experience with the Japanese people. Was amazed to see how things were oranised and the way people were working.
Collecting the luggage at the conveyers we found our luggage pieces missing and was a bit down about it.But soon as we found the counter and started filling in the information, we felt confident that soon we are gonna get back our lost baggage.
We started the first train journey in Japan. Cyril one of our colleauge was travelling along with us and this made things look much simpler than they were actually.Inserted the 1000 yen note into the Ticket machine and blindly followed Cyril's instructions. There was a nice female voice announcing the steps to be followed. Was nice to hear the feminine voice except for the Japanese announcements of which a single word was registering to me. Had lot of luggage and this was a bit tough as few of the stations had no escalators .
We were feeling the cold of Tokyo direct on the skin and jittering teeth.ZOOOOooooooooommmm....Sommething passed by lieka flash of light. There was the train just coming to a halt and the doors swung open. We entered and after a couple of notification beeps the doors closed.AS the train started speeding ahead , along came a series of announcements and greetings.
It's so common for the Japanese to greet people and they keep on doing it and the kind serving attitude is felt in the announcements. We got down after a few stations and had to change over to another line.Stations here are really colourful and brightly lit up with ads and directions. Most of the bright colours that we were seeing were the line colours- colours which represent each of the around 30 lines in and around Tokyo.Lines criss cross at many stations and people do the needful change over.
This was a whole new experience as the maximum lines i have seen till now was the central, western and the Harbour lines of Mumbai.
Well, After a changeover and then carrying the luggage all the way down the stairs and self adjusting escalators, We finally reached Gyotuku station. Just out and there was Ashutosh and Promod san waiting for us . Shook hands and passed on a hot bit of McDnlds Fish O Fillet. wow what a bite in such chill climate.Ashu our immigration champ soon informed us that our rooms are not yet set and that we would be put up in a temporary place in Minami Gyotuku.
Ok!! No probs and we took the train one station backwards to Minami Gyotuku.Soon we were joined by the Room agent Anton san. A nice English speaking guy and may be in his 40s. He helped us with the luggage and we were soon out of the station.I later came to know from Ashu that He was kinda a millionare here in Japan.
Well had a long chill walk from the station to the place of stay 'You & I'.One floor up and we pulled the luggage all the way up.Surprised so small but luxury in Japan it seems.Said to my self okay boy doon worry better things ahead !
We soon locked and rushed down to a near by Indian Restaurant named 'Bombay Palace'.Those guys had maintained it open forlong and were waiting for us and soon we were enjoying nan and chicken curry 1500 Yen only!!!!!MAde the first call back home to India telling all is fine and that was the first time I used a calling card .Cool came back to our rooms by
Got back ome by 12 midnight and soon dozed off as we needed to start early morning 7 to office.Laid Down and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..................
