the soft Fones

trrrrrr.. tttttrrrrrrrrrrrr.. so soft was the ring on the headfones and there he was . I heard my dad answer the call.He just told me that its not too clear for him and disconnected. Oops i felt i made a mistake !

Minutes before i made a planned attempt to use the VOIP to talk back home in India. The process was quite simple as i had a skype account already (www.Skype.com). Made a quick online purchase of the Skypeout credit and i was ready to go in 15 seconds. (of course after a real fast track 2 day review of the available options)

Well i attempted a second call and was talking for minutes together. just having the confidence that i am talking on one of the cheapest mode of communication and of course the best and the latest in the technical world!

The sounds were soft but pretty decent on the headfones. ANd the recipient said it was okay at their end too. (Guess i should never have mentioned that i am giving a VOIP call ! :) )


That was great and a different experience. A quick connection and pretty neat voice. Well but do not expect too much after all its the all crowded internet that enables you to talk real time to any damn fone in the world.

Well for all those in terested in the IP fones and IP telephony, this is revolutionising the telecom industry in various ways and the economic impacts are drastic.
Skype is not without competition. The prices announced by yahoo are cheaper compared to the skype rates. They both are on universal rates with selcted regions (about 12 of them) having dirt cheap rates . For instance. US calls have never been so cheap form anywhere in the world.

Skype has been in the scene for some time and the trust still belongs to skype(Kinda pioneers in the VOIP domain). Yahoo is a new entrant in PC to phone calls and i need not tell how ... is the quality at times on their PC to PC calls.

They have zig zag offers of all sorts to earn the free 100 minutes and the rest .Any way its your style and choice. NO harm in a trial run.
The best part of all these is that its kinda prepaid credit and this will help control the flow off your pockets.

Enjoy talking to friends all around the world has never been this cheap and fast. Comes with its own risks and limitations but still tis worth using it. Trials on yahoo and lycis soon to follow as soon as my skype credit expires.
